upgrading fp6 to fp11
I've been using fp6 for a few years now and want to upgrade to fp11. My old database is on a Mac G4 Powerbook. My new software would be installed on a Macbook Air.
Can I just open my database on the new computer. Will it simply 'convert' in the way that my 'word' documents do?
I believe that I can install fp6 under Rosetta but would rather upgrade and get the latest features if I can.
I use it for comparing and organising complex sets of research data and for keeping track of my books and academic papers. So nothing very fancy in terms of interrelated files.
Yes and no. Opening filemaker 11 and then opening your file will generate a converted copy and open it. There may be complications, however, due the the large "jump" in versions.
