      Zip Codes not found

      Post

We have been using filemaker 8.5 for some time now but recently we have discovered a problem with the zip code look up. When we first open filemaker on our computers and begin a new form, we put in the zip code and it usually finds the city that matches the zip code for us but it now tells us that the zip codes cannot be found. Lately it has been telling us that “LookUp Zips.fp7” is currently in use and could not be opened. If the file is shared, you can use the Open Remote command to open the file on the network. (If you’ve opened the file before, check the Open Recent menu.), when two people are in filemaker at the same time but are in two different databases.

          Thank you for your post.

It sounds like the Zip codes being looked up are in a different file.  You will need to open this file when you open your working file.  The problem currently is that the Zip code file cannot be found.  If you moved your original file, this may be why FileMaker cannot find your Zip Code file.

Once you find your file, you may want to consider moving the Zip Code information into the same table as your working file.  This way, you won't have to worry about where the other file is located.
