Summary

"Counting the Number of Unique Values in a Field" OK in FMP Windows, not in FMP Mac

Product

FileMaker Pro

Version

Advanced 11.0v.2, Client 11.0v.2, Advanced 9.0v3 (Mac); Advanced 10.0v3 (Windows)

Operating system version

Snow Leopard.7; Windows XP

Description of the issue

The method for displaying the number of unique records in a field (http://help.filemaker.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/3423/~/counting-the-number-of-unique-values-in-a-field) using a summary field works properly (i.e., displays the correct number of unique records) on FMP 10.0v3 Advanced running under Windows XP, but does not under various FMP versions under Snow Leopard; the field does not display a value at all.

However, under Snow Leopard, if I open FMP's Manage Database window, select the summary field configured to display the number of unique records, double click that summary field's name in the list of fields in the Manage Database window, click the OK button in the Options for Summary Field dialog, then click the OK button in the Manage Database window, the summary field then displays the number of unique records in the table.

This is reproducible upon demand.

Workaround

open FMP's Manage Database window, select the summary field configured to display the number of unique records, double click that summary field's name in the list of fields in the Manage Database window, click the OK button in the Options for Summary Field dialog, then click the OK button in the Manage Database window, the summary field then displays the number of unique records in the table.

I have attached a screen capture.
