1 Point Border Around Container Fields Prevents Tight Alignment With Non-Container Objects

Question asked by SheldonKing on Mar 20, 2013

Summary

1 Point Border Around Container Fields Prevents Tight Alignment With Non-Container Objects

Product

FileMaker Pro

Version

12v3

Operating system version

OSX 10.8

Description of the issue

When placing a Container field with an image in it next to a layout object with fill, it's not possible to line up both at the top edge of the window, without a 1 point gap. Container set to Reduce or Enlarge.

An example is attached. Note that this image actually shows three elements. from left to right:

- Container field, Reduce or Enlarge, No Borders
- Layout Object abutted to match
- Layout Object aligned correctly to top of screen

The first two cannot be distinguished. This is by design.

Steps to reproduce the problem

Checked borders vs non-borders, etc. Different Container display settings.

Expected result

A container field with Enlarge or Reduce or Enlarge should have its contents extend to the outer edge of the object.

Actual result

There is a 1 point void around the container field that does not contain the image in the container, but cannot be moved past the top of the layout.

Exact text of any error message(s) that appear

Configuration information

Nothing relevant.

Workaround

Leave a 1 point gap between the top of the layout and non-container field objects. Live with the fact that it looks bad.
