Summary

Barcode scanning into an un-related global field fails with error 101

Product

FileMaker Go

Version

13.0.4

Operating system version

7.1.1

Description of the issue

Using the Insert From Device script step to scan a barcode into a global field from an unrelated table fails with error 101.  Adding a relationship between the tables allows the script to run without error.  However, global fields shouldn't need a relationship to be modified

Steps to reproduce the problem

Create a new file with two tables.  Add a global text field to Table 1.  Create a layout based on Table 2. Add the global text field from Table 1 to the layout.  Create record in both tables.  Create a script that uses the Insert From Device script step to insert a barcode into the global text field in Table 1 and then shows a custom dialog showing the last error.  Add a button to the layout based on table 2 that runs this script.  Run the script.

Expected result

The camera is activated to scan the barcode

Actual result

Error 101 is generated

Exact text of any error message(s) that appear

Nothing other than my own script step showing a custom dialog

Workaround

Create a cartesian relationship between the two tables
