Summary

BUG - "not enough memory", unfixable

Product

FileMaker Pro

Version

11.0v4

Operating system version

Mac OSX 10.6.8

Description of the issue

Unable to generate digital files from records with ANY common type of placed art, instead yields error message "not enough memory to complete this operation" when there is unquestionably enough memory available, and error persists after file cache memory is set to maximum, therefore an unfixable problem, a programming problem that should have been fixed in beta.

Steps to reproduce the problem

Various placed artfiles, each tried separately: TIF, EPS, JPG, PDF
Print record hardcopy w various placed art, each separately: ok.
Print record to PDF w various placed art, each separately: fail/error.
Print record to PostScript w various placed art, each separately: fail/error.
Print record hardcopy with no placed art: ok.
Print record to PDF with no placed art: ok
Print record to PostScript with no placed art: ok.
ERROR message "not enough memory" so go to Preferences:Memory and set file cache memory to maximum allowed at 256k, then repeat all above steps: exact same results.

Expected result

Expected to generate digital files from records for electronic distribution, via print dialog to PDF, or PostScript, or other choices.

Actual result

UNABLE to generate digital files from records for electronic distribution, via print dialog to PDF, or PostScript, or other choices.
Conclusion. The only way that a user may generate digital files from records with any customization is: the user must render logo art or masthead art with FMP graphic elements such as lines, ovals and boxes, or settle for generic digital files with no company art, much like any word processing program available.

Exact text of any error message(s) that appear

"Sorry, there is not enough memory to complete this operation."

Workaround

None, zero, nada, etc.
