Summary

Can't drag and drop into a container field from an Outlook message attachment

Product

FileMaker Pro

Version

13.0v3

Operating system version

Windows 7 Enterprise / Microsoft Outlook 2010 32bit version

Description of the issue

Message attachments in Microsoft Outlook 2010 can't be directly dragged and dropped into a container field.  The plus sign shows up when the mouse is hovering over the container field on a layout, but once the mouse button is released, nothing happens. This is true whether the contain is set up to store locally or externally.  I am able to drag and drop from an Outlook attachment to any other area, such as the desktop or explorer window.

Steps to reproduce the problem

Put a container field on a layout.  Open an email with a file attachment in Microsoft Outlook.  Drag the file from the message to the container field when the layout is in Browse mode.  The plug sign will show up when the mouse cursor is hovering over the container.  Let go of mouse button, and the file will not go into the container field.

Expected result

The file that is being dragged should be inserted into the container field.

Actual result

The plus sign shows up when hovering over the container field, but is not put into the container once I let go of the mouse button.

Exact text of any error message(s) that appear

N/A

Workaround

No direct workaround.  Once the attachment is saved to disk (like the desktop) then it can be dragged and dropped into a container field.
