Summary

Can't select or move Container field in Layout if No Style and View Sample Data

Product

FileMaker Pro

Version

FMP 12.0v3

Operating system version

Mac and Windows (Mac 10.8.2, 10.6.8, Windows 7 SP1)

Description of the issue

Container field can't be selected or moved with mouse in Layout Mode when View Sample Data is on AND the theme style has been removed from the field (via Inspector > Appearance tab).

Text and other fields are not affected, just Container fields.

The Container field CAN be selected by clicking/holding outside the field and dragging the mouse pointer over it, as if selecting multiple objects. However, it can then only be moved using the keyboard arrow keys, the mouse won't move it. It can be moved using the mouse if part of a group.

Steps to reproduce the problem

1. Create a Container field.
2. Go to Layout Mode.
3. Choose "Show Sample Data" from the View Menu.
4. Select the Container field by clicking on it.
5. Inspector > Appearance tab > Click "Remove All Styles from object" button.
6. Deselect Container field
7. Try to select Container field again by clicking on it - it can't be selected.
8. Drag mouse over to select, then try to move it - it can't be moved.

Expected result

Fields in Layout mode should be selectable, and moveable, by clicking on them, and moving them using the mouse.

Actual result

Container field can't be selected or moved with mouse in Layout Mode when View Sample Data is on AND the theme style has been removed from the field (via Inspector > Appearance tab).

Workaround

The Container field CAN be selected by clicking/holding outside the field and dragging the mouse pointer over it, as if selecting multiple objects. Once selected, however, it can only be moved using the arrow keys, not the mouse.
