Cannot log in with guest account, unless it has full access

    user17265

      Summary

Cannot log in with guest account, unless it has full access

      Product

      FileMaker Pro

      Version

      11.0v3

      Operating system version

      Windows 7

      Description of the issue

If Guest account is assigned read only or data only access, I get a message that "Your access privileges do not allow you to perform this action."  The file was originally in version 6 with no password, and I don't remember if it ever worked after upgrading to 11.  Recovering the file using v11 did not help.  Creating a new account with read only privileges, with or w/o a password does not work either, but will work if the account is given full access.

      Steps to reproduce the problem

      login as guest

That error message occurs when the user or a script performed by the user attempts an action that the security settings do not allow. Using a full access account would then not trip this error. You'll need to figure out what action is triggering this error.

Best guess is that you have a script set in File Options to run automatically when the file opens. If this script has an action (could be as simple as go to layout) prohibited by the account security settings, you'll get this error message every time you open the file unless you use a password with full access.

The fix might be as simple as selecting the "run with full access privileges" option for this script.
