As far as I know there is no "transparent text colour".
Thanks. I think you're right.
You can reverse your conditional format calculation and make the format transparent by default. If a certain condition applies specify a desired color.
You can not! color-attribut= 'transparent' is never transparent. Never was. It's always white.
With FM13, you can conditionally hide objects. (But color= 'transparent' is still 'white')
A workaround commonly used was conditionalFormatting with Font-Size=500pt to hide text
Benjamin is correct! This workaround only works with objects not with text.
this asks for another workaround:
lay a rectangle over the object to be 'hidden' with attributes 'borders'= no and 'fill' = no, with a condition kind of:
if invisible; BackgroundColor= "light blue" (the one you use for underlaying part)
That's how to cover this up :-)
I tried the approach with the transparent text as default with conditional text color, but that didn't work. The transparent text always reverts to white as soon as you click off to somewhere else.
Unfortunately, I wanted the text to be invisible inside a portal, so the alternating colors causes a problem.
I will try the box overlayed as a work around. I'll update you as soon as I've tested.
In reality, I am trying to put a note over the portal that indicates "no records found based on the filter conditions. or something similar".
In ASP, there is a simple setting for this. This may actually be a great enhancement for portals, if Filemaker is listening.
You can also use conditional formatting on alternating portal rows. Odd rows can be detected by a simple
Mod( Get( RecordNumber ); 2 )
btw: Text formatting in RightNow is a pain in the neck!
thanks a bunch. I got stuck going down a different rabbit hole on another project, but will definitely use that.
