The permissions are correct and the same backup schedule used to work fine until I changed the container field to store the images on the server and not in the Database file.
I checked the inode numbers and the counts and the backup files are linked to each other. Is this is what casues the problem? Is the schedule unable to delete the hard linked images??
Thank you for the post.
I apologize for the delayed response. Testing and Development is also able to reproduce this issue and is currently investigating. I added your research to the report.
Thanks for looking at this looking forward to a fix. The problem is still happening and we are now running 188.8.131.527
We are also experiencing this problem. We would be grateful for a solution! :)
We have found, however, that after a couple of error messages, the directories involved DO finally get deleted. But these error messages will continue non-stop due to the round-robin nature of the back up scheme. So make the errors stop!
What I mean about them finally getting deleted:
We get two error message for each backup run that tries to remove older backups: Dir1 and Dir2.
The next running of the schedule reports two more errors, but for Dir2 and Dir3.
Next running of the schedule reports two errors: Dir 3 and Dir4.
Now, if you go look at the directories, Dir1 and Dir2 are GONE. They HAVE been deleted by some mechanism. If you look at the files inside Dir3 and Dir4, there are decreasing numbers of files in these directories, as if it is having some success each time it errors out, but can't finish the job. So it tries again the next time around and has a bit more success. And perhaps, on the third try, it actually succeeds?
Obviously not real sure what is going on here.
Due to the oldness of this post and we got no news although the issue is still unresolved on 12.0v6, i added a new occurrence of this post REMINDER : RC_Data_FMS in expired Backups not deleted !!!.
Thank you for your post.
This issue no longer occurs in FileMaker Server 13, and the change was not applied to FileMaker Server 12. At this time, there are no plans to revisit FileMaker Server 12.
