Copying

Summary

Copying & dragging & constraining the drag

Product

FileMaker Pro

Version

12

Operating system version

Mac OS X 10.6.8

Description of the issue

This is a real gigantic problem that has surfaced in FileMaker 12.

In the past, in layout mode, we could copy an object by holding down the OPTION key while we dragged that object.

MORE IMPORTANTLY, we could hold down the SHIFT KEY along with the OPTION KEY to constrain that copy-drag operation in a straight line.

So, in the past, a SHIFT-OPTION-DRAG would copy our object in a straight line.

However, this extremely useful function -- which we used hundreds of times per week -- has now been REMOVED from FileMaker 12.

In FileMaker 12, you can SHIFT-DRAG an object or you can OPTION-DRAG an object, but you can no longer SHIFT-OPTION-DRAG an object.

This is really making it difficult for us to use FileMaker 12.

And before you say that we should just depend on the new dynamic alignment guides that automatically pop up, I would like to point out that the new dynamic alignment guides DO NOT POP UP when you are holding down the option key, so this is of no use to us.

Can this please be fixed immediately? We want the ability to SHIFT-OPTION-DRAG an object again.

Thank you.
