Corrupt Pref file
When a user running OS 10.5.8 changes there language to Arabic , it is corrupting the preferences for filemaker 10. We then have to delete enter library folder for filemaker to work again
Thank you for your post.
If you just remove the User Account Preferences file (com.filemaker.pro.plist), does that work?
What Library folder needs to be deleted? Can you be a little more specific?
Removing com.filemaker.pro.plist does not work. The whole Library folder under that user's account needs to be removed and the account completely recreated for it to work again. Then after they change language to Arabic it corrupts again
I'm trying to get as much information possible before sending this to our Development and Software Quality Assurance (Testing) departments for review.
Once you change the language to Arabic, and after you launch FileMaker Pro, the user Account Library folder becomes corrupt. Is that correct? When you launch FileMaker Pro, are you opening a database file? If so, is there an opening script? Any specific information you can provide will help our Testers duplicate the problem.
The library does not corrupt on first filemaker opening after the Library was removed. It takes a few times of running filemaker.
The user opens a database that all our users open that is hosted on Server 10. This database then calls other available databases.
There is an open script yes.
Thanks for the information.
Is there a set number of times before the Library folder becomes corrupt?
There are so many folders in the User Account Library folder. Or, are you specifically talking about:
User Account -> Library -> Application Support -> FileMaker
Are all the other databases in the same folder or are any external?
What actions does the open script perform?
No specific number of time before corrupts
There is no User Account -> Library -> Application Support -> FileMaker being created. I checked my computer also and no folder either.
All databases are in same folder hosted from our filemaker 10 servers
Open script logs user info, sets globals ect.
I still don't know which folder is becoming corrupt. What is the full path of the folder?
According to tech working on this, He needs to deleted the entire Library folder for user
If he just deletes preferences filemaker will still not work
Since the User Account Library folder is corrupt, I assume all other applications in that user account also fail. Correct?
No, just filemaker. It is like there is a hidden file that needs deleted
So, since you say there is no FileMaker folder in the User Account -> Library -> Application Support folder, what happens to all of your other application defaults? Obviously, they all get reset to default values. Also, all of your data in iTunes and other apps would be removed. Anything else you can narrow down?
