Creating a message: You must fill either the Company or First Name/Last Name field...
MAC OS X 10.5.8
How do you create a message on a record in a "People Management" database that 1) notices when a certain 1 or 2 fields are blank, and then give you a message stating " Hello, reminder, you must enter either a First Name and Last Name or Company for the record to exist?"
Is there an easy calculation? or is it in "validation"?
I want a message to pop up...whenever the user does NOT enter a first name/last name or Company.
Equally, i would like to set up the same type idea for either entering a phone number or an email.
when i input this data on the "validation" section under "no entry" - it always brings up the message 5 minutes later as i am in a completely different field or section of the database.
same as above.
Yes you can do this a number of different ways with a Validation rule:
Not IsEmpty ( First Name & Last Name & company )
Is just one possibility.
The text you describe can be typed or pasted into the custom validation message.
