Description of the issue

Dragging a PDF file into a container field causes FileMaker to hang for around 1 minute when the PDF file is dragged from a samba network drive.
Image and text files work without a problem, also any kind of files when dragged from the local harddrive.

Steps to reproduce the problem

Windows 7, 64 bit. FileMaker 12.0v2
Create a layout with a container field.
Map a network drive (i.e. G: to \\192.168.0.4\mypath) and drag a PDF file from this path into the container field

Expected result

show PDF instantly in container field

Actual result

FileMaker hangs for over a minute, rendering the Windows Explorer source of the PDF file and FileMaker inresponsive

none

Configuration information

container field values stored without encryption externally, not in FileMaker file.
Container field display properties do not matter (optimized for images or PDF/ play files directly have no effect on the result)

Workaround

drag the file from the network share i.e. onto your Desktop and immediately drag this file into the container field.
