David A Knowles,
Since the same script works in Windows, but not on the Mac, I'd check some environmental settings in OS X. There is a known issue regarding a file on the Mac that may not be configured exactly as the FileMaker Pro 11 installer expects it to be. In order to resolve this, follow these steps on the Mac:
- Within System Preferences select 'International'.
- Switch the Region format (Formats Tab) to something else and then back to the correct value.
- Under the Language tab add a language via ‘Edit List...’ and remove it.
This will modify the user_account/Library/Preferences/.GlobalPreferences.plist.
Once you've done this, try re-installing FileMaker Pro 11, and test your script again. Please keep me updated with any progress.
Tried this fix on identical problem FMP 11.04 and Mac OS 10.6.7
It didn't work for me. I received the exact same error message when trying to run e-mail script. Any other suggestions?
Thank you for posting. My apologies for the late response.
Have you had success using the Send Mail without the script? What happens if you use the File Menu to select Send > Mail? Does it work with your e-mail client? Are you able to send using SMTP instead?
David A Knowles,
If you did find a solution to your issue, please post it so that others may benefit. If this is still occuring, please let me know if you get different results sending mail without the script -- as I describe here. Additional messages displayed when sending mail outside of the script may help to identify the cause.
After trying to reinstall Filemaker a couple of times (no fix), I read a posting somewhere about making sure the default Mail reader was set to the Mail application (mine was set to Google Chrome). Resetting this in Mail>Preferences>General did the trick.
Thanks for the hint! Why this doesn't trigger an error such as "Please check your default email preferences..." is beyond me.
