every exit caused an improper closing

    ToddBrown

      Summary

every exit caused an improper closing

      Product

      FileMaker Pro

      Version

      13.0.3

      Operating system version

      Windows 7 64 bit

      Description of the issue

Every time I open Filemaker Pro I get an error message that the files were improperly closed and that a consistency check is processing.

      Steps to reproduce the problem

I have tried closing every window separately and than exiting the program and I have tried using the exit menu function. Nothing works to have a proper closing.

      Expected result

A clean opening without consistency checking

      Actual result

      Consistency checking happens every opening

Exact text of any error message(s) that appear

This file has been improperly closed. Checking consistency.

               Thank you for your post.

Since every file is encountering this message, it appears FileMaker Pro is not setting the file as "closed" when closing any file.  Therefore, uninstall and reinstall FileMaker Pro.

After reinstallation, create a new database file, close the new file and reopen.  Does the issue still occur?  If not, then open each of the other files.  Since  the previous installation of FileMaker did not close the file properly, you should receive the consistency check initially for each file, but once it is finished, close the file and reopen.

Keep me updated with any progress.

                 TS Gal,

The issue is not resolved after uninstalling and reinstalling Filemaker Pro 13.0.3.

                 The error message on closing improperly is;

                 "Runtime error

                 Program C:\prog...

                 R6025

                 pure virtual function call"

                   Todd Brown:

Create a new user account, login to the new user account, launch FileMaker Pro, create a new database file, close the file and reopen.  Does the issue still occur?  This will let me know if it is a user account issue or a system issue.

                     TSAL,

                     I did as you suggested. I logged out and logged in as a guest, opened 5 Filemaker related files, made changes to some of the files and then clicked "exit". The same thing happened;

                     "Runtime error

                     Program C:\prog...

                     R6025

                     pure virtual function call"

                       Todd Brown:

                       Thank you for the information.

Since we know this isn't an account issue, let's assume one of the FileMaker system files is damaged.  Therefore, uninstall and reinstall FileMaker Pro.  After uninstalling, be sure the FileMaker Pro 13 folder was removed.  If not, then remove it and = install FileMaker Pro 13.  This will write a new folder and install all new files.  Once reinstalled, create a new database file and close it.  If this fails, then we have to dive deeper into Windows.
