      Summary

Export records in tab format as Mac file but will only open in Parallels

      Product

      FileMaker Pro

      Version

      11.0 v 2

      Operating system version

      OS 6.5

      Description of the issue

I follow instructions for exporting records and a newly created tab-delineated file is created, but it only opens in Parallels (although I have selected Mac format). I've never had this problem before and I have been using Parallels and FM Pro a long time. I updated OS X and FM Pro, but the problem persists.

      Steps to reproduce the problem

      File
      Export records
Save as (name, location) tab delineated file
      output file type:  Mac
      File is created

      Expected result

File created on Mac desktop that can be opened in a Mac program

      Actual result

"Parallels" file  created on Mac desktop that when opened causes Parallels to launch

          Thank you for your post.

Click once on the tab-delimited file so it highlights.  Pull down the File menu and select Get Info.  Look for "Open with", and change the application to TextEdit or some other application.  Just below the selected application, it says "Use this application to open all documents like this.".  Below that, click Change All...  This will then change all files with the extension to open under the new application, and all newly created files with this extension will also use this option.

Let me know if you need clarification for any of the above steps.
