Extreme Slowness In Filemaker Pro 10 Advanced with Mac OSX

      Description of the issue

I am experiencing extreme slowness in Filemaker Pro 10 Advanced v.3.  It's running on a Mac OSX 10.5.8.  I am accessing client files which are taking at least 3 to 4 minutes at a times which isn't productive when I have clients waiting in a line to waiting to view their files.  Can you suggest anything?

Check over the external data source references in Manage | External Data Sources

Any chance you have an incorrect IP address for the file followed by a correct reference? It takes filmaker an extreme amount of time sometimes to decide that option one doesn't work and then try the second option in the external source list.

Here's an example from my own files

          fmnet:/192.xxx.xxx.x/filename

          file:filename

IF the IP address is wrong, it takes filemaker a long time before it tries file:Filename.
