Summary

Field objects off layout area affect List view Body area height

Product

FileMaker Pro

Version

12.04 and 12.05

Operating system version

Mac OS x 10.8.5

Description of the issue

A field object that is located off of the visible layout area (i.e. in the gray area to the right of the layout, the gutter) WILL affect the height of the body area while in list view.  This happens when the field that is off the layout is partially located in the body area but then extends down below the bottom of the body area.   I have a test file and a RTF document with screen shots detailing things.  I did attach a screen shot showing part of the issue.

Steps to reproduce the problem

Created new file, made a layout with a body area, placed a field into the gutter area that extended below the body.  When viewed in Browse mode the body rows extended to include enough space for the field object that was off the layout.

Expected result

Rows wouldn't extend

Configuration information

Created a test file in 12.04, updated to 12.05 and viewed the file with the same result.  I did not try creating a file in 12.05, though.

Workaround

Move the field so that it doesn't extend below the body area.
