Sounds like a known issue with FMP 12.

This is one of many acknowledged bugs that can be found in the Known Bug List thread here in the Report an Issue section of the forum.

Yep. I have confirmed that it is the New Window Script Step.
It locked up again and I was able to open Script Debugger and saw that it is paused on a New Window script step. See attached.
Another comment was if you go into Find mode you can get out of the lock, but I am using Custom Menu's and do not have the Find command used in that particular window (or most windows for that matter).
This is a DEVASTATING bug. Not sure why FMI does not release a fix to this immediately.

Do keep in mind that bug fixes need testing too. Otherwise, the cure can be worse than the original bug. I can imagine that the programmers are working on a number of "fixes" and for all we know, they could be in "beta" testing as you read this post.
Hello Aaton Cohen-Sitt:
Thank you for posting.
Before I add your post to the original report I would like to verify how the script is being called. Are you calling it via a script trigger? If you call it from just the scripts menu or a button does the same crash happen?
Normally it seems to occur via a button. Most of the time the button does not have a script trigger attached to it.
