Summary

FileMaker 12's fix for the malformed Message-ID is no fix at all

Product

FileMaker Pro

Version

12

Operating system version

Mac OS X 10.8

Description of the issue

In FIleMaker 12 a fix for the malformed message ID bug (of putting domainnamenotspecified.net) after the @ sign, instead of nothing, doesn't really help. It might pass muster in a test environment but in the real world it runs up against a problem in that some spam filters compare the domain name in the message ID to that in the from or reply-to lines.

The most sensible fix would be to simply take the domain name from the reply-to address and insert that, instead of 'domainnamenotspecified.net'. Or allow us to specify it in the SMTP server dialog box.

Steps to reproduce the problem

Send an email via FileMaker's built in SMTP functionality.

Expected result

Message-ID will look something like this:

Actual result

It would be great if instead it was
