This is not a duplicate post. In the link that you're referring to, the user was using Filemaker Pro hosted on a network drive. I'm using Filemaker Server hosted on a remote Windows 2003 machine.
We're still trying to fix this problem over a month later. We've tried everything - upgraded the operating system, switched out Internet cables. I'm completely out of answers.
Any idea what might be wrong here?
Sorry about misidentifying this post and then losing this thread... Recent changes to the forum software floated it back to the surface where I saw your last response.
It's something of a long shot, but there's a file called server.pem that causes trouble sometimes. You might try replacing it as described in this thread: Upgraded from FileMaker Pro 10.0v1 to FileMaker Pro 11.0v2 - Can't see Databases on Filemaker Server...
That's not it either. One thing I should have mentioned in the post is that my office is in Shanghai, China, and all of the Windows computers (both the ones that can and can't log on) are using a Chinese language operating system.
Suspecting that the problem was the operating system, we upgraded the two computers to a later version of Windows XP, but that didn't work. We upgraded one of the computers to Windows 7, which didn't work either. Finally, we downgraded the version of XP to an early, early version and that worked.
I'm still a bit baffled by this, but it must have something to do with the alchemy between Chinese Windows and Filemaker.
