      Summary

Filemaker randomly gives false "printer is not connected to port" error when printing to network printer

      Product

      FileMaker Pro

      Version

      Pro 12 / Pro 12 Advanced / 12 Runtime

      Operating system version

      Windows 7 Professional 64-bit

      Description of the issue

When attempting to print to any of our networked printers from any workstation at my workplace, we randomly get errors from All versions of Filemaker 12 claiming the printer is not connected to a port. This is, of course, absurd, and we never experience printing issues with any other software. The only solution is to close and reopen Filemaker. The only conclusion is that there is a bug in Filemaker.

We are using Dell 3115cn printers. All our workstations and printers are connected to a wired local area network via ethernet.

      Steps to reproduce the problem

      Run a few print operations

      Expected result

      It should print.

      Actual result

Filemaker will randomly give an error message and then not print until Filemaker is closed and reopened.

Exact text of any error message(s) that appear

Printing can not continue because this printer is not connected to a port.  Use the Control Panel to set up a port.

      Configuration information

      Windows 7 Professional 64-bit
