FileMaker Server 11 not displaying databases in remote dialog

Description of the issue
Each morning, the filemaker application cannot open a database through the remote dialog because the server does not list any databases. Server OS was recently updated and the file
that was added was 'Security Update 2011-006'
Steps to reproduce the problem
Problem has reproduced itself each morning on power up of workstations, but any subsequent attempt results in successful population of database list.
Populated list of available databases hosted by the server.
No databases listed.
Exact text of any error message(s) that appear
no error messages
restart the server is what they have been doing, but I am going to suggest just closing and opening the files and see if that makes a difference
