    Filemaker Server 11.2 can't see Java

      Description of the issue

      Out of nowhere...this new development happened with Filemaker Server.

      I clicked the icon in my dock and got this notice:
      Unable to launch the application
      Name: (filed in)
      Publisher: Filemaker, Inc.
      From: http://localhost:16000

      The 2 choices are:  Details and OK
      Clicking Details gave me this header:

      Error: The application has request a version of the JRE (version 1.5+) that is not installed

      Steps to reproduce the problem

      Checked software update and it said everything was current
      Restarted the server
      Shut down the server and restarted it

      Expected result

      Seamless startup of Filemaker Server

      Actual result

      No change

      Exact text of any error message(s) that appear

      Unable to launch the application

      Clicking the details, I then got this:
      Error: The application has request a version of the JRE (version 1.5+) that is not installed

               I just logged in here to post an issue about java - somebody already did it...

               Please, FileMaker, please... STOP that java-thing!! It's a mess to install, every second update makes the admin-console useless, older versions sucks... a server is an 'industrial application' - has to run, nothing else.

               To be honest, there are some java-app's out there in the digital world that works - meaningless of the java-version, much more stable in this context (ie 'Oxygen')

               Please, FileMaker, help!

                 The same happened here: But we have a FileMaker 12 Server and Java 1.6.0.33.

                 Yesterday, FMS12 Admin Console worked, today we got the same Message Error: The application has request a version of the JRE ...

                 I checked the Java Installation, with Java Preferences.app: Everything is fine, we have Java 1.6.0.33 installed). Nothing has changed since yesterday.

                  

                 And from us too: FileMaker stop this Java based Admin Console! It sucks. We always have to explain to our customer, that FileMaker is a professional Company, the Admin Console fails due to complications of Java. The clients believe that FileMaker Server is an unreliable Software, they don´t care, if its only the admin console. They cannot use their server, and that´s what counts to them.
