FileMaker Server Admin Fails to Remove Folder

      Summary

FileMaker Server Admin Fails to Remove Folder

      Product

      FileMaker Server

      Version

      12.0v1

      Operating system version

      MacOS-X 10.7.3

      Description of the issue

Under certain circumstances using the Admin Console a folder in the Databases folder can not be deleted even though all the databases that were in it have been deleted.  The message is "Unable to remove database or folder because of an error "Internal Error""

The Server Event log shows Error 663: database folder "xxx" could not be removed from "filemac:/Macintosh HD/Library/FileMaker Server/Data/Databases"

Inside the folder "xxx" is another folder "RC_Data_FMS" which is empty except for an invisible ".DS_Store" file.  Removing the .DS_Store file and the RC_Data_FMS folder did not solve the problem nor did quitting and re-opening FM Server Admin.

There was a .DS_Store in the "xxx" folder.  Removing that file allowed the folder to be deleted by the FMS Admin Console,  The .DS_Store file was not owned by fmserver and fmserver did not have permission to delete it which caused the problem.

      Steps to reproduce the problem

With databases in a folder in Data/Databases using an account other than fmserver change the view of the folder which will create a .DS_Store file

      Expected result

The folder should be able to be deleted after the databases that were in it have been deleted even if there is a .DS_Store folder in it.  At worst it should produce a more meaningful message indicating that there is a hidden file that could not be deleted.

      Actual result

The folder is not able to be deleted and throws the "Internal Error" dialog box with error 663 in the Event Log

Exact text of any error message(s) that appear

Unable to remove database or folder because of an error "Internal Error"

      Configuration information

Mac Min 2011 running OS-X 10.7.3 (not server).

      Workaround

Manually remove the folder or manually remove the .DS_Store folder or change the permission of the .DS_Store file to allow fmserver or fmsadmin to be able to delete it.
