      Summary

FileMaker Server Databases folder appears 2X in the Administration/Databases folder

      Product

      FileMaker Server

      Version

      11.0.3.309

      Operating system version

Windows Server 2003, Standard Edition, SP2

      Description of the issue

In the FileMaker Server Admin Console, in Administration/Databases, the "Databases" folder and all of its subfolders and files was listed twice. Drilling down to a specific file and selecting it revealed a list of connected users in the pane at the bottom of the window, irrespective of which "copy" of the file was selected. All backups seemed to be proceeding normally, and end users were not reporting any data loss issues or confusion in the open remote dialog from connected FileMaker Pro clients.

      Expected result

Only one instance of the Databases folder should appear in the Administration/Databases area of the Admin Console.

      Actual result

Two copies of the folder appeared.

Exact text of any error message(s) that appear

      none

      Configuration information

      none

      Workaround

As part of our investigation, we looked at the "Use additional database folder" setting (Configuration/Database Server/Default Folders) and found that the checkbox was unchecked. Victoria noticed that there was a Path specified, though it was grayed out (apparently inactive). Upon enabling the "Use additional database folder" checkbox, clearing out the path, then disabling the "Use additional database folder" checkbox, the multiple Databases folder problem described above disappeared and the FileMaker Server Admin Console appeared to be behaving normally.
