"RD"C means what?
What's different about the "other person" that first logs in? Different computer? different access method? Different version of Filemaker Pro...?
Don't recognize the error message you've reported. Anychance that this is an error message put up by a script that runs when the file is first opened? (check file options for this file and see if a script is specified to run when the file opens.)
Sorry, RDC = Remote Desktop Connection. FileMaker is installed inside Terminal Services and access using standard Windows remote connection method. I'm a Mac person so may not have exact labels here. The email with this question arrived at 5pm on Friday afternoon, here in Australia, so I can't get better answers until Monday. The error message seems to be a FileMaker message. The second person (any one of several other employees) would be accessing FileMaker the same way, through the Remote connection.
There may be an On Open script that runs, but it would run for all other users too, not just the first person in for the day. Thanks for your help. Much appreciated.

Good point, but without looking at the script, you can't 100% rule out the possibility that it's a factor here. It's not totally impossible that the script produces different results for the first user from subsequent users.
