Many developers are taking the time to adjust to 14 because they see potential efficiency in the new scripting. And many other developers are staying in 13 because they see that scripts are now much more difficult to maintain and that the supposed efficiency just isn't there in this version.
Why does staying with 13 suck for you? if 14 doesn't offer any worthwhile features, then why not be happy staying in 13?!?
It's much too early to be setting up clients to use FMP 14. Need to wait a while, perhaps until the first bug fixes get released. This is not something unique to FileMaker. You might develop in 14 as a way to try out the new changes, but don't build in any 14 only features for a solution you plan to deliver to a client.
though I'ld better stay out of Peru!
I do minor developing in FMPA14 just for some new functions.
You can use the new OrientationLock function for FMGo 14, host your solution with FMP13 and the new function will be recognized with FMGo14!
Don't worry Phil, I'm no "Guinea Pig".
I'm just now upgrading my clients from FM 10, FM 11 and FM 12 to FM 13.0.9.
IMHO I think that FM 13.0.9 is fairly stable and warrants to be installed.
I mostly use FM 12 at sites that are actively developing their software and the other older versions at sites that were "just using" the software and weren't updating machines or developing.
However I have one FM server set up with the newest version at all times and with that I use the newest version of FM Advanced. It's based on experience from that site you guys will be receiving my rants. ;-)
Thank you Benjamin
But I think I'll stick to chicken ;-)
