At last I have found someone else getting this alert. Posted thsi up 2-3 days ago and have not had an answer yet.
"There is not enough room on the disk to complete this operation. Make more room on the disk then try again"
I'm not using a Disk image, I've a 40Gb drive with 12GB spare. Your problem may be a clue to mine. Maybe FM9 & !0 really do want more room, (11-12Gb should be enough...No?) Seems reasonable?
I get it in with OSX in 9 & 10.

Thank you for your post.
If you move the file to the local drive, does it work? If not, then there could be some problems with the file itself. Also, make sure you have enough room on the local drive for the temporary files created by FileMaker Pro.
FileMaker does not need more than 12 GB... If it FileMaker says there is not enough room on the disk, then the OS is telling FileMaker Pro there is not enough room. As FileMaker launches, it keeps information on the local drive where the system is located, so if you have 12 GB free on an external drive, but nothing free on the local drive, you will also get this message.
>> There is not enough room on the disk. To complete this operation make more room on the disk , then try again <<
I get thsi alert regardless of the local disc size. I have 12GB spare on my local drive and 110Gb+ spare on my external. Still get it. See my other posts on htis alert. Solution: Went back to FM6 in hte end!
Thank you for your posts, and I have just read your other posts.
From your other post, it appears you are exporting information. If true, what is the name of the file? Does that file already exist in the directory? If so, make sure that file is not Read Only or you will get the message not enough room on disk since that file cannot be erased.
It looks like you checked the permissions for the folder where you are writing.
Are you able to add records to the file?
At what times do you receive the error message?
My database is very small, contains 46 records which arent very large either. If I mount the disk image and then open the file, the MOMENT i try typing one character into a field the message comes up. I cant make any changes to any records. This behaviour is always the same, it doesn't just come and go like it seems to be for some other people.
If I copy the file to my desktop and then open it, no error message, and everything works as expected.
Other info: the disk image is a sparse bundle, and it is encrypted. For various reasons I need to be able to do this on top of FM security.
Other info 2: I started with FM 9, then went to advanced, there was never a problem. This only appeared when I upgraded to FM10A.

omaxme: You will also get this error if the directory you are exporting to does not exist.
It sounds like a permissions issue. If either the file or directory/folder is set to Read Only, this would cause the error when typing in one character. Since there is no error on the local drive, the file is not set to Read Only. Therefore, make sure the folder and/or disk image has full read/write privileges.
