    FMP12 crashes when managing security

      Summary

      FMP12 crashes when managing security

      Product

      FileMaker Pro

      Version

      12

      Operating system version

      OS X 10.7.4

      Description of the issue

With the Manage Security menu, I attempt to enter a user name or password.  FMP 12 crashes or locks up (spinning rainbow ball forever).  If it locks up, I must use Force Quit to get it to quit.

      Steps to reproduce the problem

I’ve tried to set up an account, or modify the Admin account several times with the same results - lock up or crash.

      Expected result

That I would set up an account or modify the username and password for the Admin account.

      Actual result

      Crash or lock up.

Exact text of any error message(s) that appear

The program crashes or the spinning rainbow ball appears - forever.

      Workaround

Trashed and reinstalled the program but got identical results.

          David Moorman:

          Thank you for your post.

Does this occur with every file, or just the current file?  That is, if you create a new database file, go to File -> Manage -> Security..., add an account, do you also get a crash?

If you create a clone of the file (a copy with no records), are you able to add an account?

If only this file is damaged, then run a recover on the clone, and import the data from the original file.  Ideally, revert to a backup file and import the data from the original file.

Keep me posted with any progress.
