Thank you for your post.
This issue has been previously reported. It generally occurs when the zoom is set to either 75%, 150% or 300%. Setting the zoom to 100% appears to remedy the issue.
Some reports also show a graphics accelerator card causing issues. If the accelerator is turned off, the issue does not occur.
Let me know if you continue to run into difficulty.
Indeed the zoom level is at 150%. For some reason when I designed the layouts years ago I zoomed every layout to 150% (using scriptd) so that all the elements could be readable. I know this does no make sense. I put it down to lack of experience on my part as a new user of Filemaker Pro. I do things a bit better now. I will check out the accelerator on the graphics card.
The issue presents itself with the zoom level at 150% (and 75%) regardless of the accelerator card. Therefore, I wouldn't spend any time checking the graphics card or accelerator card. You may want to perhaps make the fields larger and set the zoom level back to 100% where the issue doesn't occur.
This issue does not occur in FileMaker Pro 12.
@ Stephen Vaughan:
If this is indeed a Graphics Accelerator issue or bug in Lion 10.7.04 (which is what I believe) why would this not replilcate itself in FM 12? I have this issue and really dont want to purchase FM 12 if this issue is going to crop up again. Re-writing my database is not a possibility. It's way too large. Thank you.
It appears changing the zoom in/out on a given layout causes the layout elements to replicate seemingly exponentially with each subsequent vertical/horizontal scroll. On occassion the layout returns almost to normal. Make sure you are viewing the layout at 100% and this ought to fix the problem. I tested this on a database I was using last week with the same problems and returning to 100% indeed got rid of the problem. Does Filemaker intend to fix this in version 11.x ?
In my bugs list database, this issue is specifically listed for FileMaker 11 on macs and remains open. No bug fix update for 11 has fixed it and no user has yet confirmed whether or not this will occur in FMP 12. (Don't own an mac so I can't check this one on my own.)
