      Summary

      Hangs when "Saving as.. Excel" on Intel Mac [FMA 10.v01 ]

      Description of the issue

      Version:Adv. 10.v01 (10-02-2008)On MacOS No Rossetta installed   Using the Save as... Excel command brings up a Dialog that no Rossetta is installed. Closing this dialogue will leave FileMaker in an unresponsive state. The only way to quit FileMaker is to Force Quit it.

          Thank you for your post.

          What type of machine are you running?  Is it a PowerPC or an Intel Mac?  This was a problem with FileMaker Pro 8.5, but that was not an issue with FileMaker Pro 9 or 10.

          Did you install any plug-ins?  If so, what plug-ins did you install?  Uninstall the plug-ins and try again.  Do you have the same issue?

          Any additional information you can provide may be helpful in narrowing the possible causes.

            Hi TSGal

            FileMaker Version 10.v1

            MacOS 10.5.7 (Rosetta not installed)

            Exporting an Excel file (.xls) will hang FileMaker.

            Exporting an XML file (.xlsx) does work.

            cheers

            Patrick

              Thank you for the information.

              I am running FileMaker Pro 10.0v1 and 10.0v2 on an iMac with Mac OS X 10.5.7.  I am able to export to an Excel file without any problem, and I do not have Rosetta installed.

              Does this happen with every file or just the one file.  If the latter, it may be a corrupt database file.  If the former, then FileMaker Pro may not have installed correctly.  If the latter, try rebooting your system in safe mode and try again.  If it again fails, uninstall and reinstall FileMaker Pro.  If it still fails, then stop all applications.  Also, try removing the preferences file:

              Home -> Library -> Preferences -> com.filemaker.pro.plist

              As a last resort, reinstall the OS.
