Windows XP SP 3
Thank you for the links to your other posting.
I have access to a Windows XP (SP3) machine, so I will test it here. Check your Inbox at the top of this page for instructions where to send your file.
Thank you for your post.
I have tried this with two different Windows XP (SP3) machines, and I'm unable to replicate the issue. I have entered 10 records, sorted by the Sub-Summary field (sort_order), and saved to PDF file on both machines without incident (although it did take a more than a minute to process and save).
What is the default printer? Is there a specific driver version?
The default printer is an HP LaserJet 5/5M on a local port. The printer driver is HP 5/5M Postscript driver. I am going to try to update that driver to a PCL driver today and also try changing the default printer to another printer we have here that has the newest driver... an HP 8100 series with the newest PCL driver. I willlet you know how that goes.
I updated the drivers and tried again on both PCs. Both PCs are set up the same with the same version of Filemaker and Adobe reader. The error is attached. both PC had the same result. Filemaker errored and closed after I saw the "Creating PDF" window for a bout two seconds. Both of these PC are under two years old. We put Windows XP on them becasue that is the OS for the entire company. What should I try now?
Thanks for the information about the HP print drivers. The printers I used here are also HP LaserJet, and some are direct, and other are through a printspooler. I'm still able to save to PDF and print regardless of setup.
Anything else you can provide about your system setup may be helpful. How much memory? What other applications are running? How is this different from the Windows 7 machines that are saving to PDF properly?
