Image color shift
11 (not tested in previous versions)
Operating system version
Mac OS X 10.5.8
Description of the issue
An image directly inserted into a layout or displayed in a container field will have a visible color shift. In the uploaded png file the upper image is from an internet browser (FireFox), the lower image as it looks in FileMaker.
Using the color picker in FileMaker, the red from the logo taanzuri is sampled in the upper image as R:137 G:0 B:42 and in the lower image as R:134 G:0 B:29.
This alone is already anoying. But there is also a color shift added to the FileMaker color sampled with the color picker. The two smaller rectangles at the lower logo are actual rectangles in FileMaker. The left box was colored with the sampled color from the upper logo, the right box with the color from the lower logo. Resampling these colored rectangles again with the color picker will result in two new colors. Left = R:121 G:18 B:44, right = R:118 G:18 B:32.
The color shift is also quite recognizable in the red/orange pattern on the right side of the uploaded image.
This color shift makes it very complicated to create continues background colors using images and FileMaker fill color.
Steps to reproduce the problem
1. Insert an image in layout.
2. Open the same image (e. g. in a browser).
3. Create a box and for the fill color sample the color from the image in the browser.
4. Create a second box and for the fill color sample the color from the image inserted into FileMaker.
5. Compare both images and the color in both rectangles.
a) Use FileMaker color sampler on the same spot in both images.
b) Use FileMaker color sampler on both rectangles.
The sample color in all four cases should be identical.
The four colors sampled with the color picker are four different colors.
