    Import failure

    johnd

      Summary

      Import failure

      Description of the issue

Filemaker 10 will not import .dbf files.  Same files import just fine with Filemaker 8.5 and Filemaker 9.  Error msg: "This file could not be translated using the selected file type."

          JohnD:

FileMaker 10 removed several old data types (SYLK, DIF, etc.) including DBF files.  Several users have complained about this file format not being included, so until this is reinstated, please change your export to tab-separated or comma-separated instead of DBF.

            TSGal -

Unfortunately, this is not possible.  Our data is downloading from real time instrumentation through some proprietary software that is incomprehensible to the OEM, then summarized in an old FoxPro script.  Our only real choice is to downgrade to Filemaker 9 until this feature is reinstated, or until we can find a programmer to hack some code.

Could you email me when that feature gets reinstated?

            Thanks

I will definitely contact you through the forum (private message) when the DBF file format is re-implemented.

XML export with a custom XSL

(FM Inc shoudl at least had wrote the XSL that makes the deprecated formats)
