Thank you for your post.
Does this occur for all PDF files or just one in particular?
Since this works when you plug in the network cable from Desktop 1, it seems to point to something OS related.
First, create a new user account, log in to the new user account, launch FileMaker Pro and see if you run into the same problem.
Next, run msconfig and stop all non-Microsoft Services.
Usually when it takes a long time to display a file, there is a bad file reference. However, since this occurs quickly on another machine, this may not be the issue. In any case, look for any bad file references in the FileMaker Pro file.
Please keep me updated with any progress.
This occurs on all PDFs, and also happened when they tried an Excel file. TIFF and JPEGs upload normally.
I will get back with the user to test your suggestion and and let you know what happens.
I notice that the user is pasting a file path instead of just selecting a document icon in the dialog. If they insert the PDF by selecting the document icon, do they get the same delay.
I'm speculating here that maybe there's a difference with the user's hard drive--badly fragmented, index setting different or some such that might explain the delay--which may be due to the OS using the pasted file path instead of the GUI interaction to identify the file reference to be inserted.
I'm experiencing the same problem
