Thank you for your post.
Using WebDirect with either Safari or Chrome under Mac OS X 10.9.4, when you specify Insert Text, it will insert text to the end of the string; not at the place your cursor is inserted. Therefore, you need to capture the position of the cursor using Set Selection and ActiveSelectionStart prior to inserting the text. For example,
Set Selection [ <fieldname> ; Start Position: Get ( ActiveSelectionStart ) ]
Insert Text [ <fieldname> ; <text to be inserted> ]
Let me know if you need additional clarification.
Thank you for your response.
I am disappointed that filemaker pro is choosing to really only support the newest operating system 10.9 when many users have older operating systems. Also it seems to me that you have a enough commands working using 10.8 to make these commands work in 10.8.
Sorry for any confusion. WebDirect does work fine with either Safari or Chrome under Mac OS X 10.8.x. It's just that the computer immediately available to me is running Mac OS X 10.9.4.
I just located a machine with Mac OS X 10.8.5, launched Safari 6.1.6, accessed the same hosted FileMaker Server 13 file, and using the script above, I'm still able to insert the text in the appropriate position.
Thanks for the clarification.
The only thing I changed in your script above is a did not specify the field because I could not use get(ActiveFeild). Even so it worked great.
set selection[start position: get(ActiveSectionStart)]
insert text [text]
