This might be more an intentional feature than a bug. Certainly it is a different behavior compare with previous versions and requires some learning and adjustments on our side (the developers).
As a workaround you can group the selected objects. The Inspector will show the correct position of the group. After you moved the selection, aplly ungroup to have single objects again.
A suggestion for FileMaker: Show the position and dimension values in the Inspector in gray, when multiple objects are selected. Or show the numbers in black and add the text "multi-selection" in the Inspector section "Position" when multiple objects are selected. Or, as a deluxe solution, add an option in Preferences where the developer can decide the desired behavior.

Well, I don't want to be someone who gripes about any behavior change, but this one seems like a definite step down, comparing the flexibility the 11-era behavior offered (without having to group/ungroup for such a menial task). Anyway, thank you for making a note, TSGal; sorry I missed the earlier post.
Likewise, I don't gripe about changes just because things operate a bit differently. But this change results in a substantial loss of power in designing and updating layouts, with no added benefit. (We already had a simple, flexible, mechanism to align objects.)
Bottom line: Unless the behavior in this case reverts to that of FM 11, many developers will waste a tremendous amount of time doing what was trviial in the previous version.
Or if someone inside FileMaker, Inc. thinks this is cool because it mimics some other design program (that probably doesn't deal with the many different kind of objects we have to juggle in FileMakers -- fields, buttons, text, images, lines, etc.), then at least give us a setting at the file level to enable toggling the behavior between the current FM 12 and that of FM 11.
Thanks for a great job of working thry these issues, TSGal!!!
