Thank you for your post.
When you tap "Add a Note", the script "Add a Note" should be executing. This adds a record to the Notes_Utility table, and the UserName and Timestamp fields should be automatically updated. This information is then placed into the first line of the Notes field below. Can you double-check to make sure this script is being called, and also the Username Created and TimesStamp_Creation fields are being updated?
Is this for a contact that you created directly in the database or did you import the contact data into the starter solution from an external source?
I would assume that since I am pushing the button and the only thing that happens is a creation of a new record, that it is not being called. Can you possibly give me direction on how to create a new "Add note" script?
I did not import the data from and external source. I typed it in myself.
Go into Layout Mode, go to the Record Detail Layout, click the Notes tab, click the "Add a Note:" icon, pull down the Format menu and select "Button Setup...". On the left side, select the option "Perform Script", and on the right side, click "Specify" and specify "Add a Note" (fourth item below the Contact Management -> Action folder). If one doesn't exist, then create the script "Add a Note" with the script steps:
Set Variable [$ID_Contact ; Value: Contact Management::k_ID_Contact]
Go to Layout [ "Notes_Utility" ( Notes ) ]
Set Field [ Notes::kf_ID_Contact : $ID_Contact ]
Commit Records/Requests [ Skip data entry validation ; No dialog ]
Go to Layout [ original layout ]
Go to Field [ Notes::Text ]
This will then allow you to add a new record.
THANK YOU SO MUCH!!
