Layered tab object cannot be used to block access to underlying tab in FM 12
OS X 10.6.8
The old trick to put a second tab object on top of the tab selection fields to prevent users from switching tabs manually does not work anymore in FM 12. Now it's very easy for users to end up in the wrong tab layout when they click on a transparent tab object by mistake.
The ability to block users from switching to a different transparent tab layout is an essential building block of modern interface design.
Is this related to the bug that allows users access to locked fields or is this a design change?
Is there a new way to block access to tabs as well as pop-up lists that I am unaware of?
I have found my own solution by placing a transparent button with four identical states on top of the tab selection fields. Because all states are identical the button will not turn gray when pressed. Problem solved.
