      Summary

list() function does not allow sort

      Product

      FileMaker Pro

      Version

      12

      Operating system version

      Windows

      Description of the issue

When using the wonderful new list() function, the calculated field resort is not sorted.

      Steps to reproduce the problem

Create a one to many relationship between two files: Contacts and Notes.  Match on a field called contactID.

      Contact file needs two fields:

      contactID   Contact_Name
      ----------  --------------
      1           John

      Notes file needs three fields:
      noteID  contactID  details
      1       1          note3
      2       1          note2
      3       1          note1
      4       1          note5
      5       1          note4

Enter one record in Contacts for "John" with a contact ID of "1".

      Enter 5 records in Notes

Create a new calculation field in Contacts called "Combine" and add the function:

      list(Notes::details)

Now look at the results of "Combine".  The list is not sorted.

      Expected result

Ability to sort the list() function.

      Actual result

Can't find a way to sort the list() function

Exact text of any error message(s) that appear

      No error, just frustration.

      Configuration information

The ability to use a "sort" function on the "list()" function is what is needed.  It might look like:

      sort(list(Notes:details))

      Workaround

      Excel or SQL
