Lock and unlock fields in browse mode ?

      Summary

Lock and unlock fields in browse mode ?

      Product

      FileMaker Pro

      Version

      FileMaker Pro Advanced 11.0v4

      Operating system version

      Mac OS X 10.7.3 (Lion)

      Description of the issue

      Hi
I want to lock all the fields in a database in order to protect existing data and avoid to change anything by accident. I wonder if there is another way (a script?) to do this in browse mode and not to have every time to go to layout and unlock fields (every time) to insert new data.
      Thanks
      zorgo

You can modify a a value in a field--which can be a global field so that you only have to modify this in one record to lock all records--and use setting in Manage Security to lock out all edits to the records in all the records in your table or tables.

See "Editing record access privileges" in FileMaker Help and check out this particular sub section: "Entering a formula for limiting access on a record-by-record basis" for a detailed description of how to set this up.
