Hello David Morrison:
Thank you for posting.
FileMaker KB 6185 only applies to versions 7-9. Beginning with FileMaker 10 you have the ability to specify the target printer directly on the Page Setup. Changing the OS default printer is no longer needed.
It's possible that your script is storing the target printer inside the 'Specify print options' within the print script step.
Thanks I'll doublecheck that there's not another target printer floating around.
You can still change the default printer if you wish as follows:
1. Obtain the exact printer name by using the terminal command: lpstat -a
2. Create a Run Applescript script step with the following command (enter EXACTLY as shown, but replace printername with the name you got from step 1.
"do shell script (\"lpoptions -d printername\")"
This changes the default printer. Remember to set it back if needed.
As a side note, i never had a relevant answer to "FileMaker Pro ignores default printer" which the subject is a bit close to this one.
What if you check the default setting in 'System Preferences' (Mac). Does it name a particular printer, or does it say "Last printer used"?
If it says "Last Printer Used" this may be the problem.
Hope this helps...
Suddenly this morning my FMPro apple scripts are not changing the printer.
Has anyone noticed there is no "Printer Setup Utility" in Yosemite anymore.
However...there is a preference pane...but you cannot choose it as an app to tell.
tell application "Printer Setup Utility"
set current printer to printer "DYMO LabelWriter 450 Turbo"
