NonVerified Hourly Scheduled Backups appear to freeze clients

Description of the issue
Hourly backups "freeze" clients, forcing users to re-initiate scripts that failed to peform during/after freeze.
Steps to reproduce the problem
Scheduled unverified backups every hour. Data entry users report seeing "white screens" exactly on the hour and having to click buttons a second time in order to finish data entry tasks. Changing schedule to occur on the half hour resulted in white screens on the half hour.
No "White screens" and buttons clicked during backup would trigger scripts with results/actions Queued to take place after backup completes.
File being backed up is slightly more than 300MB. Hard Drive has more than 8 GB of free space.
