               abonino,

To attempt to replicate I created a new database:

               File>New Database

Then I created a new custom menu:

               File>Manage>Custom Menus>Create>Add>Choose "Open Favorite>Select

Then I set the "default menu set for this file" to my newly created "New Menu Set" and clicked "OK."

I have an Open Favorite option in my menu bar. I was also able to create a Custom Menu from FileMaker's standard "File" menu with only the "Open Favorite" option or from "Start with an empty menu" and Open Favorite displays. See screenshot below.

Am I missing a step to replicate?

                 Hi TS Falcon

                 y, missing step

                 - old FM-version AND

                 - changing a old (existent)  Custom Menu

My situation (pre-migration-procedure), 2 solutions with little 'Custom Menu Sets (duplicate NO,  delete NO, ...):

                 - try to add the Command 'Open Favorite' (with FMPA 11.03 on 10.7.4)

                 A) one created with FMD5.5  (converted with FMD8.x),

                 B)  one created with FMD9.03,

                 C) solution A convert with FMPA 12.02

=> i can't find the Sub Menu 'Open Favorite' / [Open Favorite]

                 => picts-upload https://dl.dropbox.com/u/22914186/CM%20%27Favorite.zip

                 (why i can't upload multible pict-files)

                 regards, Arthur Bonino

                   Thank you for the reply.

Does this also occur in a new database file? If you start a new custom menu from scratch, instead of using the converted custom menu, then is the option avaliable?

To do this follow these steps:

                   1. File>Manage>Custom Menus

                   2. Choose "Custom Menu Sets" Pane in the top left.

                   3. Click "Create..." in the bottom left.

                   4. Click "Add..." in the bottom left of the "Edit Custom Menu Set" window.

                   5. In the "Select Menu" window scroll down to bottom.

                   6. Choose "[Open Favorite]" from the list and click "Select"

                   7. Click "OK" in the bottom right of the "Edit Custom Menu" window.

                   8. Change "Default menu set for this file:" in the bottom left to the newly created menu and click "OK."

                   9. An "Open Favorite" now appears in the menu bar.

Or if the goal is for the option to appear under the "File" menu do the following:

                   1. File>Manage>Custom Menus

                   2. Choose "Custom Menus" Pane in the top right.

                   3. Click "Create..." in the bottom left.

                   4. Choose "File" from the list in the "Create Custom Menu" window and click "OK."

                   5. In the "Edit Custom Menu" window on the left note "Open Favorite" is a default menu.

                   6. Click "OK" in the bottom right of the "Edit Custom Menu" window.

                   7. Click the "Custom Menu Sets" pane in the top right of the "Manage Custom Menus" window and click "Create..." in the bottom left.

                   8. Click "Add..." in the bottom left of the "Edit Custom Menu Set" window.

                   9. Scroll to the bottom of the list in the "Select Menu" window and choose "File Copy" (or whatever the custom menu was named) and click "Select" in the bottom right.

                   10. Click "OK" in the bottom right of the "Edit Custom Menu Set" window.

                   11. Change "Default menu set for this file:" in the bottom left of the "Manage Custom Menus" window to the newly created menu and click "OK."

                   12. An "Open Favorite" option now appears under the "File" menu in the menu bar.

Please let me know if the following resolves the issue or we can discuss next steps.

Thank you for the sample file.

To attempt to replicate, I first confirmed I was able to add the "Open Favorite" menu to both to the File Copy custom menu set within the CM_Favo menu set and to the CM_Favo menu set specifically using FileMaker Pro 11 Advanced.

Next, I deleted the "Open Favorite" menu set from both places, and then converted the file using FileMaker Pro 12v2.

I am able to add the "Open Favorite" option following the steps outlined in my previous post. Although, I can additionally clarify the first step #5 to say:

                           5. In the "Select Menu" window scroll down to bottom. (If the option is not existent in the current list, click "+" and select "Open Favorite" and click "OK" to add the option to the "Select Menu" list.

Please let me know if the following resolves the issue.

                               Thank you for the post.

I am running FileMaker Pro 11v4 on Mac OS X 10.7.4. If I follow your steps, then I am able to replicate, but only because the "Open Favorite" menu has not been added to the Custom Menu Set. However, try the following:

                               1. File>Manage>Custom Menus

                               2. Choose "Custom Menus" Pane in the top right.

                               3. Click "Create..." in the bottom left.

                               4. Click bubble for "Start with a standard FileMaker menu" and scroll to bottom.

                               5. Select "Open Favorite" and click "OK."

Now go back to the "Custom Menu Sets" Pane in the top left and then follow the steps you provided. Open Favorite will now be an option at the bottom of the list in the "Select Menu" window. See screenshot below.
