Summary
Password required after file conversion
Product
FileMaker Pro
Version
11
Operating system version
Mac OSX 10.7
Description of the issue
Have used Filmaker for years for my business invoicing. Recently upgraded from version 6, as Lion (OSX 10.7) no longer uses Rosetta. AFter conversion to FM11, I get a dialog upon file launching asking for a password. If I select 'GUEST' I am allowed full privileges. What I would like to do is turn this measure off, so that launching a file is a one-step process, instead of two. I have located some articles about changing passwords, but nothing about removing this feature. I am a single user, database is not published. I did not have any account name or password associated with the file when is was running on version 6. Surely there is something that I am missing here?
Steps to reproduce the problem
Launch a converted FM11 database. (Converted from FM6)
Expected result
File launches as it did in Filemaker 6.
Actual result
Get a dialog box asking for password and account.
Workaround
signing in as guest seems to grant full privileges. Not sure why an extra step has been introduced into my workflow.
Open it with full access privileges.
Open Manage Security and make sure you have the Admin account set up with no text specified for the password.
Click OK to close these dialogs and enter admin with no password if asked to do so.
Select File Options from the File Menu, select the Log In Using check box and specify Admin as the account name and leave the password box empty.
You should now be able to open the file without having to enter any password.
With new Database files created in fileMaker, these are the default settings.
