Phantom Record, damaged file message, Recover can't detect a problem
Description of the issue
Windows XP clients, Windows Server 2003 Filemaker Pr 10.03, Filemaker Server 10.02 We had an error message pop up on one client machine that the file in question was damaged. After dismissing the dialog the database appeared to perform normally and other clients did not report any problems. All appeared fine except a new blank record in the system did not appear to truly "exist" even simple text fields displayed ? and the record could not be deleted. Needless to say, we replaced the file with a backup and imported all necessary records except this "phantom record". Curious to see what would be reported, I ran a recover on a copy of the file over the weekend (It's a file of over 100,000 records). Filemaker reported "no problems found", but the recovered copy did not show this mysterious "record". I've saved a copy of this file and will try to delete all records but the "phantom" to send in if filemaker would care to take a look at the file.
