Summary

Plug-in Installation Error 1550/1551

Product

FileMaker Pro

Version

13.5

Operating system version

Mac OSX

Description of the issue

Running the install plug-in script step returns error 1550. Running it immediately thereafter returns error 1551. Again returns 1550. The two errors take turns for about 15 seconds after the initial try, at which point it successfully installs the plug-in and continues with the process.

It seems as though FileMaker is initiating some kind of interaction with the system that is taking longer than expected, so it's returning the best guess at an error. After 15 seconds that interaction has been completed and FileMaker can successfully complete the install.

Manually installing the plug-in (i.e. placing it in the Extensions folder) does not resolve this issue.

Expected result

No error.

Actual result

Error 1550 and 1551 cycling between one another for 15 seconds.

Exact text of any error message(s) that appear

1550: Cannot load the plug-in or the plug-in is not a valid plug-in

1551: Cannot install the plug-in. Cannot delete an existing plug-in or cannot write to the folder or disk

Workaround

Wait 15 seconds and try again.
